Hydra gorging a waterflea

A green hydra viridis is gorging a large waterflea (some kind of daphnia). When I took the first minute of this video, I didn't believe, that the hydra will success, but it did! Microscope magnification is 50x and 25 x, contrast technique is Rheinberg illumination.

This is one of the first microbs i saw when i got my microscope about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was a type of rotifer but have slowly began to realize its not. Now i know what their called , thanks for shareing

I saw something like this while looking at a sample of pond water this morning . I am brand new to this microscopic world so I hardly know where to begin. It seems the head was different on the one I observed . And it was green. It would shrink all the way back into the tube which was completely translucent. I am amazed at this new world !
